A Week of Photography 12: By the Foggy River
Exploring the Mystical Charm of the Sava River: Foggy Night Photography in Zagreb
This week, I bring you a glimpse of the atmosphere I experienced in Zagreb, by the Sava River, on a foggy night. The Sava River originates in Slovenia and flows through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, before joining the mighty Danube near Belgrade. Its 945-kilometer length makes it one of the most significant rivers in this region, connecting many cities and cultures along its path. Although I would normally never venture out into the cold around midnight, this time it was different. The fog drew me in with its mysterious presence.
There is something special about fog – it envelops and conceals everything, blurring the boundaries between the sky, earth, and water. Sounds become quieter, footsteps echo deeper, and light scatters into soft, hazy shapes. Fog doesn’t allow us to see everything clearly, but that’s where its magic lies – it forces us to look differently, to feel space, time, and ourselves in a new way. At the same time, it invites us to embrace the mystery and decide to take a step into the unknown.
“Losing oneself in fog can lead to unexpected beauty. Fear not the unknown paths.” - Mehmet Murat Ildan
I took all the photographs using a Fujifilm X-H2 and a Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens.
I don't like fog, but I like it through your eyes :-)
Love the mood of these images. Well done. Beautiful.
