Dubrovnik, with its stone streets, magnificent walls, and shimmering sea, is one of the most photogenic destinations not only in Croatia but in the world. However, behind the stunning facades and historical landmarks lies the everyday hustle and bustle that flows through the city streets. Street photography gave me the chance to capture those fleeting moments and unnoticed details I discovered once I looked beyond the city's most famous attractions.
This series of photographs tells a story of Dubrovnik you won't see on postcards – about its passersby, everyday activities, and moments of relaxation that come with life inside this ancient city. Above all, my aim with this series is not to show how Dubrovnik looks, but to capture the feeling of what it’s really like to be in Dubrovnik.
I had seen this elderly gentleman several times walking with dignity through the streets of Dubrovnik. Here, he sits quietly on a bench, observing passersby in a state of relaxed contemplation. Photo by Davor Katusic.
In this image, the dog in the foreground appears almost monumental, as if calmly overseeing the entire island of Lokrum, which seems small and insignificant in the distance compared to the dog's commanding presence. Photo by Davor Katusic.
Although the city is bustling with people, this nun is captured walking in solitude through the streets of Dubrovnik, bringing a moment of peace and quiet to the busy everyday scene. Photo by Davor Katusic.
Every corner of Dubrovnik is perfect for photography. This opportunity wasn’t missed by this couple from the East, nor by me. Photo by Davor Katusic.
In the heart of the city, among the narrow streets, cats enjoy their peace, protected by a fence from the curious passersby. Photo by Davor Katusic.

Children climb the steep stone stairs, bringing a sense of liveliness and playfulness to the historic streets of Dubrovnik. Photo by Davor Katusic.
A woman sits on the steps, taking a moment of rest, while the girls above her playfully climb on the railing. Her calm demeanor contrasts with the children’s lively energy, capturing both tranquility and playfulness on the Dubrovnik stairs. Photo by Davor Katusic.
The photograph captures Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, taken from the city walls. The bird’s-eye view reveals a bustling atmosphere with numerous passersby, while the shiny stone pavement and historic buildings highlight the beauty and vibrancy of this ancient city. Photo by Davor Katusic.
